State guidelines and parental demands have created a need for healthier offerings from school food service providers. This is not a trend. Healthy eating in schools will continue to be optimized in the coming years. And we can help you practice what you teach.
In 2004, our organization alone was chosen to partner with the Connecticut State Department of Education in the development of a health snack program for state schools. Berkshire Food spearheaded a pilot program which resulted in 2006 revisions to snack food guidelines*. We are now cited by the state as a key resource for healthy snacks and are on the approved vendor list.
See our Healthy and Fresh Alternatives page for more information and access to our healthy snack product list. And if you want to complement this with some more indulgent items, Berkshire Food carries more than 2500 products to choose from.
Whether you choose to sell snacks over-the-counter, or offer school vending services to enhance convenience for students and staff, Berkshire Food is your resource. We currently serve more than 100 school systems in Connecticut and New York, and would welcome the opportunity to work with you.
What Our Clients Say
Our clients are often kind enough to share some feedback on our working relationship.
"Berkshire Food has been handling our vending for many years. I meet with (Berkshire) prior to each school year to discuss items to be sold and pricing. It has been difficult at times because of the 'Choose Sensibly Guidelines' we follow, but Berkshire has always been able to meet our needs. I would not hesitate to recommend their vending services."
Mary Jo Mueller of Carmel Schools (School Vending - NY)
"(Our Berkshire Service Rep) always takes care of our machines. He is most polite and friendly, and always stops to say good morning. He seems efficient - he is in and right to work. Job well done."
Michelle Trimarchi of George Fischer Middle School (School Vending - NY)
